Jake Flannigan

Jake Flannigan is an English midfielder who was born on 2nd February 1996. Flannigan is an extremely versatile player, having represented Saints at U21 and U18 level in pretty much every position. He played much of the 2012/13 season as an attacking midfielder, and made a habit of popping up in the box at just the right time. Saints were dominant in the early months of that season, with Flannigan playing a key role. He scored a number of important goals, including a fine individual effort against Tottenham. He also netted in an exciting 4-2 win over Man United in February 2013. Flannigan operated at right-back, out wide and in a deeper midfield role too. He was called up to the U21 squad during the summer of 2013. Flannigan also signed his first professional contract around the same time. He scored in a pre-season friendly at Newcastle in July 2013, playing in the unfamiliar role of striker. After a successful 2013/14 season Flannigan was called up to the first-team for pre-season prior to 2014/15. He featured in matches on tour of Holland and Belgium and also in a friendly at Swindon on 21st July. Flannigan was on the verge of the first team in February 2015, sitting on the bench during Premier League matches against QPR and West Ham. Not long after the player suffered a nasty injury which ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign. Flannigan was dealt a further blow in November 2015 when he re-reptured his anterior cruciate ligaments
